Use our data
Everything in this registry is free to use — in a news article, a school project, a spreadsheet, a research paper, or an app. There is exactly one condition: say it came from The Repeal and link to us. That’s the whole licence, in plain words.
Quoting a fact
Every page on this site shows the date its information was last confirmed and which provincial authority it came from — look for the gold stamp. Quote the fact, the date, and us. A ready-made line you can copy:
According to The Repeal (therepeal.ca), as of 2026-08-31, 109 Canadian producers were approved for direct-to-consumer shipping between provinces.
Journalists: we can provide historical counts, week-by-week changes, and per-province breakdowns on request — every change since the registry began is preserved.
The spreadsheet
The whole registry fits in one file that opens in Excel, Numbers, or Google Sheets: download the CSV. One row per approval. The columns:
- producer
- the producer's name
- category
- wine, beer, spirits, cider, or mead
- home
- where the producer is (CA-NS means Nova Scotia)
- region
- the wine or craft region, where known
- website_domain
- the producer's own website
- destination
- the province they're approved to ship INTO
- authority
- the provincial body that approved them (e.g. LCBO)
- first_listed
- the date we first saw the approval
For developers
A read-only JSON API lives at /api/v1 — same data, machine-shaped, no key required, CORS open. Endpoints: /api/v1/producers and /api/v1/registry.csv. We snapshot the registry every week and keep every version, so historical extracts — what the record looked like on a given date, or everything that changed between two dates — are available on request. Tell us what you’re building and we’ll send it.
The fine print, briefly
- Licence: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). Use it, remix it, build on it, commercially or not — just credit The Repeal with a link.
- Accuracy: we record what official sources publish, dated. Rules change between our weekly checks — before ordering or publishing something that depends on a specific rule, verify with the destination province’s authority.
- Independence: The Repeal is not affiliated with any liquor authority or producer, and sells nothing.
