Out-of-province manufacturers could begin the AGLC approval process on 21 July 2026. Manufacturers must wait for formal authorization from AGLC before selling direct to Alberta consumers, and approved manufacturers submit a monthly report tracking shipments. AGLC collects the fees associated with direct-to-consumer sales, including an administrative fee, GST, and container and recycling amounts — this is not a percentage of retail price, so no remittance rate is asserted here. Alberta has also extended its separate direct-to-consumer wine agreement with British Columbia. AGLC publishes a dated participants list, but as of 24 July 2026 that PDF contains 93 entries under a single heading, "Name of the BC Winery" — it is the BC wine programme roster, not yet a multi-province participants list.

Our record for Alberta is 29% confirmed against official sources. Blanks above are things we have not verified — not things that don’t exist. Know a source? Send it our way.

Questions

Is it legal to ship alcohol to Alberta?

Yes, within limits. Alberta is one of nine provinces in the July 2026 agreement, so a Canadian producer approved by AGLC may ship directly to a Alberta resident of legal drinking age, for personal use. The producer must hold that approval first.

How old do I have to be to receive alcohol in Alberta?

18. The destination province's drinking age applies, not the producer's.

Who regulates this in Alberta?

AGLC. Producers must be authorized by AGLC before shipping into Alberta, and it is the authority to check with if you are unsure about a specific order.

Which producers can ship to Alberta right now?

91 producers are on our register as approved to ship into Alberta as of 2026-08-31.
