Shipping alcohol to Ontario
A producer in another province can ship to you in Ontario once it has been approved by LCBO — and you must be 19 or older to receive it. What is allowed, and since when, varies by province; here is what is on the record.

Ontario and Nova Scotia signed the first bilateral direct-to-consumer agreement on 2 March 2026, with producer applications opening the next day; authorizations were forecast to begin “in the coming weeks”. No official date for the first authorizations or shipments has been published, which is why the go-live field reads as not yet verified even though the corridor is demonstrably live. LCBO lists eight participating jurisdictions: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan. Quebec is not among them. Producers apply online and applications may take up to three weeks to process. Authorization holders file quarterly financial reports (including a nil report in quarters with no sales) and remit amounts calculated on basic price — excluding shipping, container deposits and HST — per the official DTC quarterly templates: mark-up is multi-band (not a single retail percentage), including $0 mark-up on 100% Canadian wine and cider, 19.1% of basic price on other wines, per-litre beer rates, and spirits bands by ABV. The public list of authorized producers currently contains only Nova Scotia producers, though eight jurisdictions are named as participating.
DTC mark-up schedule
Authorization holders remit to LCBO on a quarterly basis (including a nil report when there are no sales). Mark-up is calculated on basic price — excluding shipping, container deposits and HST — using the official out-of-province DTC quarterly templates (v1.0). These amounts are paid by the producer, not as a separate line at the consumer’s checkout.

Is it legal to ship alcohol to Ontario?
Yes, within limits. Ontario is one of nine provinces in the July 2026 agreement, so a Canadian producer approved by LCBO may ship directly to a Ontario resident of legal drinking age, for personal use. The producer must hold that approval first.
